MOPA Kingslynn Loose Leaf Black Tea, 250g pouch

Grown on the Kingslynn Estate, this tea comes from the steep slopes of the “World’s End” in Sri Lanka. The tenderest leaves are selected from heritage Chinese tea bushes with unique flavor characteristics due to the high elevation and slightly colder climate. Affectionately called “Heaven Scent” this tea offers a remarkably delicate and floral flavor and the tea leaves can even be steeped a second time. This tea is best enjoyed pure with no added milk or sweeteners. One compostable pouch contains 250g loose tea.

Partnering together at high elevations

The Kingslynn Estate in Sri Lanka spreads across 163 acres in the higher elevations of Uva, Sri Lanka. Twenty acres of the estate are planted with tea while the remaining 143 acres are preserved as forest. The Estate is currently owned by the Kandy Catholic Diocese, and the tea garden is cultivated and run by the Marginalized Organic Producers’ Association (MOPA) in partnership with Bio Foods. MOPA is a network of over 800 small-scale farmers, about half of whom are women, in the Uva and Central regions in Sri Lanka. These farmers grow spices and tea and are committed to organic and biodynamic agriculture.

What do our roast names mean?

At our solar-powered roastery in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, our worker-owner team batch roasts and conducts production cuppings daily to bring out the best characteristics in each harvest. With four primary roast levels, we think there’s a favorite here for everyone.

Medium Roast: expect the unique citrus, nutty, fruity, or floral notes of each coffee to shine through.

Full City Roast: you’ll get a bit more of the caramel flavor that comes from the roasting process.

Vienna Roast: starts to bring the smoky aroma and smooth and rich body of a darker roast.

French Roast: with the natural oils fully expressed, it’s an intensely dark and smoky experience akin to dark chocolate.
