These milk chocolate minis are made from organic cacao from Dominican Republic, Peru and Togo, organic sugar from Paraguay and Costa Rica, and organic vanilla from Madagascar, all grown by small farmer co-ops. When farmers organize into co-ops they gain crucial market access, run their business democratically, and decide together how to invest in their communities. Founded in 2004, our partner ASOCACE was formed to improve the livelihoods of sugar farmers located near the capital city of Asunción in Paraguay. It has grown from the intial 45 members to around 200 today.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.

"Every year, before Valentine’s Day, I use Equal Exchange on a Sunday, in worship to celebrate true love. Love for the earth and all we share it with. Some people don’t like dark chocolate so I always include the milk chocolate as well. One person said she only ate dark chocolate. But then she ate a dark chocolate mini. Then, because the mini was small, right afterwards she ate a milk chocolate mini She said that contrast actually made the milk chocolate taste delicious. Thank you!"
