We are proud to support the Small Organic Farmers’ Association (SOFA) in Sri Lanka who grow a variety of crops including tea, black pepper, cloves and ginger. Unlike the typical monoculture model of tea production, SOFA’s crop diversification provides both economic and environmental resilience at the farm level and supports their vision to establish a prosperous community living in harmony with the environment. Most teas–even those that are certified as fair trade–come from large plantations where workers have little say and are trapped in a system of dependency. The small farmers who grow our teas control their land and their livelihoods. Together, we’re building an alternative tea model and a farmer-led future for the tea industry.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.
