Grown by small farmer co-ops

This hot chocolate is crafted using organic cacao grown by farmer cooperatives such as ACOPAGRO in Peru and organic cane sugar grown by the farmers of Manduvira co-op in Paraguay. When farmers organize into co-ops they gain crucial market access, run their business democratically, and decide together how to invest in their communities. For many years, we’ve partnered closely with ACOPAGRO, a co-op that has expanded from 27 to nearly 2,000 members since 1997. With Fair Trade premiums, they’ve invested in new facilities, equipment, social programs like food production and medical access, and technical trainings for their members' farms. Enjoying this hot chocolate supports these small farmers and their communities.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.
