Focusing on progress in Nicaragua

The PRODECOOP cooperative organization brings together 38 villages from Esteli, Madriz and Nueva Segovia in northern Nicaragua to collaborate on agricultural extension services, training, marketing, credit, coffee quality programs, and social development projects. Thirty percent of the farmers are women, and through their collective training programs grow to become leaders in their co-op and communities. With a permanent commission on gender, they are learning to frame tough conversations about equity to include everyone in the family, and encouraging members to focus on progress and integration.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.

Shortage of coffee

"It's a good dark roast I enjoy the flavor. My concern is i bought 10 pounds (2 5lb bags) of coffee and they only wiegh 4lbs exactly with bag! Tryed to call but they are not open on weekends. I will reach out on Monday and hopefully they can fix this problem for me and all customers."

Elegant French Roast! Add 2 TBL to Rice Krispies!

"Once I discovered this French Roast it has been my favorite, since 2018. I've discovered the best price when I purchase via website in bulk. ($6 less per pound). There are only two places in my town to purchase Equal Exchange. Usually arrives within 6 days of placing the online order. Three 5lb bags at a time, will last nearly six months. Although I have tried several of the other flavors, French Roast is my absolute best favorite. Over the years I have yet to find a better French Roast than this one. My preference is a burr grinder - Drink it black. Such a delicious flavor! Very smooth flavor with a fantastic aroma. When I make Rice Krispie treats I add 1/2 cup walnuts, plus two tablespoons of this French Roast (coarsely ground). Wonderful = My version of an energy/power/protein bar. So Delicious for an afternoon snack. ! Love the Rich, elegant flavor!"
