We are proud to support the Potong Tea Garden in Darjeeling, India. Once a colonial plantation, Potong is now collectively run by its workers, paving a stronger, more democratic path forward for the community. This revolutionary model generates significant improvements for the garden’s 350 workers and their families, and is helping to spark a badly needed transformation of the tea industry. Most teas–even those that are certified as fair trade–come from large plantations where workers have little say and are trapped in a system of dependency. The small farmers who grow our teas control their land and their livelihoods. Together, we’re building an alternative tea model and a farmer-led future for the tea industry.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.

Does your green tea contain any caffeine?
Hi Kyme, yes, green teas, including ours, do contain caffeine. A cup of green tea provides 25 to 29 grams of caffeine. Just for comparison, coffee contains 95 to 165 milligrams of caffeine per cup.
I USED TO BE ABLE TO PURCHASE INDIVIDUAL BOXES OF TEA. NOW ALL I SEE IS 6 PACKS OF TEA. CAN I STILL BUY INDIVIDUAL BOXES??? I REALLY CAN'T USE ALL OF THOSE PACKS OF TEA!!!
Equal Exchange has recently made the move to selling most products by the case only because we've found that it's much more efficient and ecological to sell farmers’ products by the case. I'm sorry, we do not have any test data on caffeine level in our individual tea bags. However, the average for green tea, in general, is between 30 and 50 mg per 8-oz serving.
