Have you ever wondered why our decaf coffee is so flavorful? We start with the same high-quality, organic, small farmer grown Arabica beans that we use in all our coffees. Using the Mountain Water process, a chemical-free technique, 99.9% of the caffeine from the green coffee beans is removed by immersing them in water under specific temperature and pressure conditions. This allows the original delicious flavors to remain intact.

At our Massachusetts HQ, our team batch-roasts coffee daily under a 1,418 panel solar array, bringing out the best flavors of each harvest. At the lighter end of the roast spectrum, we accentuate the unique fruity and floral notes within the beans. As the roast length increases, the natural sugars in the coffee beans caramelize and darken to elicit a richer body. Our darkest roasts fully express the beans’ natural oils, yielding subtle smokiness and flavors akin to dark chocolate. At every level, our expert team creates a smooth, clean, and balanced cup with reliable consistency from batch to batch.

Equal Exchange Failed on Customer Service

"This review is entirely about customer service. I spent over $124 on coffee with Equal Exchange and had a terrible experience. FedEx reported they couldn’t deliver my package because the apt/suite number was missing — even though I entered it correctly at checkout. I contacted Equal Exchange and asked them to call FedEx to correct it. Instead, I received a canned response telling me the tracking showed it “should be delivered today. ” That was not helpful — I had already checked tracking myself, which is how I knew there was a problem. Later I got a notification that the package was “delivered,” but nothing was at my door. After searching my complex and the neighbors (which who wants to have to go poking around the neighbors' property?), I reached out to Equal Exchange again. Their reply simply said it was delivered and included a photo of a door that was not mine. In other words, my order was shipped somewhere else, and now it’s on me to figure out where. This has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I wanted to support Equal Exchange’s mission, but customers deserve better support when mistakes like this happen. I double-checked my order — my address was correct — so the error was not mine. What was most frustrating was the lack of ownership or proactive help from customer service."
