What is the Presbyterian Coffee Project?

Started in 2001, The Presbyterian Coffee Project offers a special link between congregations and communities around the world. Churches can now reach out to neighbors overseas, not only with the prayers and offerings we give, but with the goods and products we purchase. A warm cup of coffee (or tea) in our hands is perhaps the most tangible daily connection we have with farmers around the world. It represents warmth, hospitality, fellowship, hard work and life's pleasures, both fine and simple.

Through the Presbyterian Coffee Project, you get access to organic, fairly-traded products at wholesale case prices, ensuring that more of the money you spend on coffee, chocolate and other products reach the hardworking farmers who actually grow them.

Equal Exchange has been a leader in the U.S. fair trade movement for over 35 years, trading directly with small-scale farmer cooperatives, owned and run by the farmers themselves. Farmers receive a higher price for their crops and advanced credit. And because farmers are paid above market prices, they are able to make investments in community projects, educational programs, and technical trainings. The co-ops keep rural communities healthy and strong and keep local cultures vibrant. Equal Exchange is also committed to supporting sustainable farming methods that help green the earth through reforestation, natural resource conservation, and organic practices.
